40: Two Beer Label Mock-Ups

Mat Callahan of Man Made Murals submitted two mock-up labels. The first is for Jai Alai IPA. We originally were working with another artist on that project, but we came to the conclusion he sucked an awful lot because he never could quite give us what we wanted. We expect this was due to his innate lack of artistic ability. Despite this quantifiable lack of artistic ability our former artist valued himself very highly, he just didn't pass that value on to this work.

So we went back to the drawing board and started working with Matt. Unlike the last fellow we worked with Matt is a real artist with an understanding of the commercial requirements of businesses. His work can be seen at Channelside (Splitsville, Stumps Supper Club, Tinatapas, Imax Theatres and the Tampa Tribune murals), Ybor City, The Florida Aquarium and throughout Tampa Bay and beyond. He has been great to work with. He is talented, professional and most of all dedicated to getting the job done right. Here are a few jpg mock ups he has done so far:

The first is for our Warmer Winter - Winter Warmer style ale. We like Winter Warmers and of course wanted to brew one, but the fact is we live in Florida and the Winters here just aren't up to Northern standards. We thought our beer label should reflect the warmer winters we experience here in Florida and we think Matt did a great job of blending a winter vs summer mood and color scheme for this label:

Next is for the Jai Alai IPA. We dig this one, but it may see some changes to a more detailed view of the Jai Alai player's face. Jai Alai is, sadly, a dying sport in the US so quality reference pictures aren't numerous. Still we like the retro 70's feel of the label in its current form and it will only improve:

Matt also made a nice Oval of the CCB logo which you can see on the above bottles. This logo will be easier to shrink and affix to a wider range of mediums such as hats, shirts, glassware and the like:
