46: Brew House Has Arrived!!!
Well we are not ready for it but the brew house, three station keg washer, two more fermenters, grist mill, augur run, brewing platform and all the assorted piping, hose, pumps and doohickeys have arrived. Alan from Premiere Stainless helped us unload everything and Trace and Scott from Dunedin Brewery stopped by to help out as well. Chris from Whole Foods and Madison Roane also stopped by, but they slipped away when I wasn't looking!
We had a very productive meeting today with our engineer, plumbing contractor and then our electrical engineers. Toni Derby, who acts as my father's Director of Operations stepped in to help us get the permits wrapped up. We are happy to have her on board because quite frankly....we failed in the permitting department, so let that be a word of caution to anyone preparing to tread where we have stumbled . Make sure you know what you are dealing with if you have to do ANY kind of construction. Permit techs speak a foreign language. Their language is complicated and a rudimentary knowledge of the linguisitc basics can not be mastered in anything less than 10 years. SO.. unless you speak permit tech....hire someone that does!
Anyway....we are resubmitting our plans and hope to have a temporary permit in hand very soon. That is good, but there is bad news. No way in hell will be open this month. Just isn't going to happen and October is looking iffy. So we are now shooting for November. On top of that we have put the tasting room on hold as the City requirements to meet code for it are just not in the budget at the moment. So we expect to revisit the tasting room in January/February.
And now back to happier tidings...here are some pics of the brew house. If anyone sees anything remotely phallic (see previous thread comments) keep it to yourself!
This is a close up of the mash tun/ hot liquor combitank:

More combitank. Even the hot liquor tank has a cip ball...swanky:

The grist case. My teetotaler father showed me up by knowing more about the grist case set up than me:

Brewer's Platform and piping/heat exchanger:

Brewer's platform fromt he bottom:

All the new stuff:

Trace took a bunch of pics including some better shots taken int he sunshine when we were unloading. If he gets them to me soon I'll slap those up as well. Until next time...
Cheers,

p.s. I'm sure Wayne will have TONS to say in his weekly update this week.
