74: Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting

So congratulations are in order for Wayne. In his very first outing representing Cigar City Brewing he brought home a first place ribbon from the Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting for his Mayan Chocolate Imperial Stout which we have dubbed Hanahpus Imperial Stout in honor of Hanahpu who in Mayan myth gave cocoa to the Mayan people. Hanahpus is our base Imperial Stout aged on cocoa nibs, dried pasillo and ancho chiles, cinnamon and vanilla beans. It's is one of my favorites and it is nice having it on tap at the brewery

So, I was unable to attend the tasting due to sick kids and fear about what might happen to the beer (Maduro Oatmeal Brown) we have in the fermenter if no one one were here to babysit. I wish I could have been there, but I'm proud of Wayne and thankful to all the supporters and well wishers who have encouraged us to keep plugging away when everything seemed to be going wrong. I already knew that Wayne brewed exceptional beer, but it was great to see his endeavors recognized and rewarded. So congrats Wayne and thanks to all the beer lovers in central Florida that convinced us to brew the beers we love (like Hanahpus) rather than settle for "safe" beers. Beer in the tank and a 1st place showing in our first ever competition? Things are looking a lot better than they did back in August!
