95: Special Releases, Scotch Ale coming along, My new favorite lunch spot...
Upcoming CCB Events:
We will be doing two special event tastings in May. The first will be at Datz Deli is South Tampa on May 26th starting at 6PM. The lineup for this event will be:
Hunaphus Imperial Stout
Big Sound Scotch Ale
Humidor Series: Cedar Aged Jai Alai IPA
Espresso-Aged Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale
Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale
Datz is new to the scene and doing really interesting beer focused events. They also have an amazing cheese selection, ridiculously tasty deli sandwiches, an eclectic and varied draft lineup and if that were not enough they sell bottled beer to-go. We are excited about this event Our head brewer Wayne Wambles will be in attendance to answer questions or just share a beer with.
The next May tasting will be held at The Brass Tap located in the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel on Thursday May 28th starting at 7PM. This event will include an assortment of Cuban-themed foods especially chosen to pair with and compliment CCB beers. The lineup will look like this:
Vanilla-Aged Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale
Hunahpus Imperial Stout
Big Sound Scotch Ale
Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale
Jai Alai India Pale Ale
If you live in Pasco county, The Brass Tap is easily one of the best craft-beer destinations in the area. My buddy Ryan is the manager and he is a very beer savvy guy who works hard to keep interesting brews stocked. Both events are free admission, just purchase any beer you wish to drink.
Big Sound Scotch Ale:
I cracked open one of the recently bottled Big Sound Scotch Ale today and was happy to see it is progressing fine. Carbonation has started to develop after only five days, which puts us right on track to release this malty treat in early May.
My New Favorite Lunch Spot:
So I found a place called Castillo's Cafe not far from the brewery on the corner of Spruce and Armenia that does really good Cuban dishes. They even serve up a Frita Burger, which prompted me to lift my ban on eating meat, since I haven't had a decent Frita since I was a kid. It was worth it. They serve up most of the traditional Cuban staples like Palomilla Steak, Milanesa Steak, Boliche and Cubans, but they mix in a few Italian-inspired dishes. Though many dishes are served on a rotating special basis. The place is small and only open for lunch from around 11AM till 3PM, but the food is quality and a good value and since it is right down the street it fills the Cuban void left when El Nino closed down.
